Hi everyone, I’m a 25-year-old new to gacha games, and I’m looking for recommendations for something fun to play on my Google tablet. I started Genshin Impact but got a bit overwhelmed and took a break. What I realized, though, is that I love the exploration aspect of these games more than combat or the storyline. I enjoy wandering around, collecting items, and meeting NPCs.
I tried Infinity Nikki, but it ran poorly and kept freezing, so I had to uninstall it. With that in mind, do you have any recommendations for other gacha games with great exploration? Or maybe you know of some chill, fun games outside of gacha that I might like? Thanks in advance!
P.S. I tried posting this on another forum, but it didn’t work.
Have you tried Honkai: Star Rail? It’s a really fun game with exploration as a big part of it. You get to visit different planets and help NPCs with their problems. There’s some combat too, but it’s turn-based, so it’s pretty chill.
@Bliss
Thanks for the suggestion! I read somewhere that Honkai: Star Rail’s world isn’t fully open. Do you think that limits the exploration, or does it make it better in some way?

I think the semi-open world design in Honkai: Star Rail actually makes the exploration more enjoyable. The treasure hunts in each world are some of the most fun I’ve had in a gacha game. It feels more focused, and I love stumbling across side quests randomly. But that’s just me—others might have different opinions about it!
Wuthering Waves is my top pick. It lets you skip most of the story and cutscenes, which is great if you just want to explore. Genshin is decent for exploration too. Since you mentioned Infinity Nikki, you might like Wuthering Waves a lot.
Sky: Children of the Light is a beautiful game with massive maps to fly around and explore. There’s no combat—just peaceful flying and discovering new areas.

Oh yeah, I’ve tried it a little! Maybe I should give it another shot sometime.
Honkai: Star Rail sounds like a good fit, especially if Infinity Nikki didn’t run well on your tablet. A non-gacha option you might like is Ex Astris. It’s a gorgeous game with cool exploration, though it costs $9.99.
Genshin Impact, Honkai (both Star Rail and Impact), and Wuthering Waves are the most popular ones. Another option is Zenless Zone Zero. But if Infinity Nikki didn’t run well on your device, Wuthering Waves might be a bit too demanding.

That’s good to know, thanks! I’ll probably keep Wuthering Waves lower on my list for now. It seems like HoYoverse has a lot of interesting options, though.

Just a heads-up: Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t have much exploration. It’s more about fast-paced combat, which is really smooth, and… well, let’s just say the fanbase can be a bit much. Unless you’re into that kind of thing, I’d skip it.
I haven’t touched Genshin in years, and I’m not into turn-based games, so I can’t comment on Star Rail. But Wuthering Waves is amazing—it has fantastic combat and a big map for exploring.
