Remove ads, Unlock all heroes and options to buy exp, gems or gold. Everything can be gained through normal gameplay, nothing is exclusive to IAPs.
“buy exp, gems or gold” so basically pay to win. That’s not old-school at all and fortunately the dungeon crawler genre is one of those genres which has games without p2w.
@Westley
That’s the only way to properly monetize on mobile: ads + IAPs. Steam version will be paid and have no IAPs. Also the game is 100% single player, so other players aren’t impacted when someone buys IAPs and nobody is forced to buy them as everything is available through normal gameplay.

Does the steam version still have the two currency mechanic?
Yes, but gems in this game aren’t a “premium” currency or anything, they’re part of the gameplay. Gems are used to craft special equipment, unlock partywide perks and for empowering heroes later in the game.
Gold is used to buy basic equipment and consumables (crafting and perks also have a gold cost).
You mainly get gold from treasure chests in the maps or by selling your loot. The main way to get gems is by completing maps, with each map dropping one type of gem (there are 10 types).
Random events, achievements and bounty rewards can also give gems and gold.
@Noe
Sure, I will tell the dev of shattered pixel dungeon that he is monetizing his game wrong by not adding p2w crap. Have fun with your casual player base but this is the wrong place to look for them.
