Saw some news about Google Contacts possibly improving how we start video calls through connected apps. What do you think? Is this something you’d actually use?
Does anyone actually use carrier video calling? I’ve never seen it. Hope they let us start video calls from the phone app using 3rd-party apps instead.

My wife uses carrier video calls all the time. She’ll start with a regular call, then switch to video when she needs to show something. If she wants to start with video, she goes straight to Meet.

I’d love it if they let us set a default video app for each contact. I use WhatsApp for work colleagues and Google Meet for family and friends.
@Valor
That’s funny—I would’ve guessed the opposite, with personal on WhatsApp and work on Google Meet.

Carriers just stick to data, SMS, and voice now. Anything extra, like video calling, is overpriced and not worth it.
Still annoyed they merged Duo. If they were going to combine apps, they should’ve just put everything into Hangouts.
Google’s been all over the place with Android messaging and video calling. They still don’t have a solid plan.
If they’re going to merge things, why not just put it all into the Phone app? Makes the most sense.
