Google Keep Prepping a New Shortcut for Voice Notes and Simplified FAB Settings (APK Teardown)

Google Keep is introducing a shortcut for voice notes and a more streamlined setting for the Floating Action Button (FAB), making it easier to use. Here’s what the community has to say:

Love Keep! It’s simple but meets my needs perfectly. Looks like Google’s giving it some attention with these updates.

I wish it had Markdown support and version history in the app like on the web version.

I love Keep too. Can’t wait for Google to shut it down.

@Vale
If Keep ever dies, Google will be dead to me.

I wish reminders based on location worked as well as Alexa’s.

@Aris
There’s an option for location-based reminders. Is it just not as good?

Search isn’t great. Alexa suggests the nearest locations and just works.

I think that feature was in the works at some point.

I’ve been able to do that for years on Android. Are you sure it’s not there?

Keep doesn’t support text formatting. Not sure where you’re doing that.

@Blair
Check this out: Google Keep Formatting Update. You just need to tap the ‘A’ above the keyboard.

My bad, it does exist. But it still doesn’t let you highlight text.

@Blair
True, but bold, italics, and headers are there. Highlighting might take decades at Google’s pace!

It’s inconsistent. Formatting is in the app, but version history is web-only.

@Bryn
Yep, Google is strange like that.

What’s a FAB?

It stands for Floating Action Button.

It’s the floating button in apps, usually at the bottom right.

It’s a good change, but I worry that Google remembering Keep exists means they’ll eventually kill it.

Voice recording only allows short clips, while Gboard can handle paragraphs. Why is this so typical of Google?
