Here we are in 2025, and phones are still running on a revamped Snapdragon 778G.

Yeah, and it’s not just Qualcomm… MediaTek has been doing the same thing with similar A78 and A55 chipsets. Don’t expect much change this year.

The 778G is better than the Snapdragon 845. For mid-range specs, it holds up pretty well.
better than a Snapdragon 845
That’s not saying much since the 845 is from 7 years ago. Phones should aim for more than just “usable” specs these days.

For $200-$300, compromises are expected. If you want top specs, you’re looking at a much higher price range.

You’re ignoring the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 models coming this year. Qualcomm’s been putting outdated A73 cores in their 6 series while other brands wouldn’t dare.
@Bennet
5 years of OS updates is a big jump from the usual 2-3 years for budget phones. Any chance this will release in the US?

No US release has been announced yet. I doubt it’ll happen unless a carrier shows interest.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Moto G Stylus 5G 2025 has similar specs.
@Ren
I’m currently using an S24+, but Motorola phones have always been super reliable for me. The G75 would make an excellent backup phone or even a small tablet for basic tasks. I actually have a few older phones I use as mini tablets, and some of them need replacing.
Motorola has been killing it in the budget and mid-range phone market lately. This one looks promising.

Yeah, something definitely shifted recently. Maybe it’s a new direction from Motorola or a push from Lenovo at the top.
@Bennet
Good to know. I felt like their budget phones had fallen behind for a while. Maybe I missed the turnaround?

They started bouncing back with the Edge 50 series. The Edge 50 Neo is actually the only mid-range phone with an LTPO display right now, which even pricier phones usually skip.
Motorola is great at mixing random parts into phones. Most of the time, the result is okay, but every now and then, they create something special.
Love that it has a MicroSD slot. Now if only they’d make a flagship with one!

Actually, this phone doesn’t have a MicroSD slot.

It does have one. Maybe read the review before commenting?
