Works on old phones?

Interesting what counts as ‘old,’ but yes! Based on the code structure I’ve tested, it should work on any Android phone. Just make sure requirements are satisfied (a few taps in the settings), plug your device in, and enjoy.

You might want to add a check for whether the device needs to patch init_boot.img instead of boot.img, since some devices, like Pixels, require that.

Is this like a Magisk root manager?

This script is mainly for automating the patching process with Magisk.

Which phones are supported?

Is this for real?

Even Huawei?

And will banking apps still work?

Some banking apps or TOTP apps may not work, but future releases should address this.

So, is it a root access tool? How does it compare to Magisk or KSU?

It’s mainly to simplify granting root permissions by connecting your phone to a PC. You can then use Magisk directly on your phone or manage settings with TWRP. An update is coming soon with more checks and root management options.

Thanks for your interest! If you’d like, you can even contribute to the project.

Supported Devices:

1. Android OS: Requires Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher.

Tested Brands:

Pixel devices, OnePlus, Samsung Galaxy (Exynos models; U.S. Qualcomm models are often carrier-locked but will be supported in future updates), Xiaomi, Sony, and others.

Unsupported: Amazon Fire (coming soon) and Android Go devices (also planned).

For non-tech users, maybe add a GUI root manager with simple allow/deny buttons and an app lock. Magisk and KSU can be complex.

Sideloading Magisk.zip is simpler too; maybe consider a one-click GUI app?
