Tomorrow’s the Day! Verizon Message+ Stops Working – What’s Next?

Verizon’s Message+ app will stop functioning starting tomorrow. If you haven’t switched yet, now’s the time. Are you ready for the change?

Finally! RCS for everyone!

Well, RCS for those using Google Messages or iPhones with the latest OS. Wonder how long before we see a third-party RCS client.

And let’s not forget: the carrier has to support it too.

@Remi
For iPhones, maybe. Google Messages uses Jibe servers, which are Google-owned, so it’s less of an issue there.

@Remi
My carrier straight-up told me they have no plans to support it. WhatsApp is so widely used here that they don’t see the point.

My friend won’t update their phone because of the changes to photo storage. They’re in the UK, so RCS doesn’t matter much there anyway.

Unless you’re rooted, that is.

Rooted here, and it works just fine. Messages doesn’t rely on Play Integrity or anything like that.

@Phoenix
I’ve had issues where the app says everything’s fine, but messages won’t send. It seems like it’s hit or miss for rooted devices.

What’s Message+? US only?

It’s Verizon’s messaging app for syncing texts across devices. It also had features like sending gift cards or sharing your location.

Bet older phones won’t get new updates. This is going to upset a lot of users.

@Val
Shed tears incoming.

Now that Verizon Message+ is gone and Google Messages is the main option for RCS, are there plans to make it more user-friendly? The current app lacks customization, and sorting/deleting messages is a pain. The built-in spam filter is nice, but filtering options are awful. You can’t bulk delete or manage conversations easily, and the interface is clunky. Any better alternatives?

@Sawyer
You don’t need to click into each conversation to delete it. From the main screen, swipe left or right. By default, it archives, but you can change it to delete.

Thanks! That’s a bit faster, but still not ideal.

@Sawyer
For bulk deleting, just tap and hold on a conversation to select it, then select others and delete them all at once. As for distinguishing conversations, what exactly are you comparing them to?

@Ember
I meant when using filters like ‘Unread.’ You can’t bulk delete messages there, and clicking into a conversation marks it as read. It’s annoying to sort through thousands of messages this way.

@Sawyer
It does have a bulk-delete feature. Just hold down on one conversation, select others, and delete them all together.
