It is been a whole mess attempting to upload about 8GB of media to Google Drive on my phone. Every time, it either stops uploading entirely or stops halfway through. It never stops saying “making files ready,” but nothing has really uploaded when I check. Has this happened to anyone else?
It is not a phone problem, as I am using a Galaxy S24 Ultra. Even on my Tab S9 Ultra, I tried it, and the issue persists. I am trapped using the mobile app for Google Drive because my PC is currently broken, even though it functions flawlessly on my PC. It works well with tiny files, but chokes on larger ones, occasionally, it provides a sneak peek at what is uploading, but other times, it just remains still for hours on end. I even left it overnight in the hopes that it would work, but it did not. It is really annoying, especially when I have to upload these files right away.
The majority of the time, multitasking and Android apps that automatically terminate due to memory issues
I therefore continued to upload and just left the phone there, doing nothing else, not opening it, and either starting to use another device (a laptop, another phone, etc.) or going to bed.
Yes, thus you need to go into the option and select “Upload and Download Only on Wi-Fi” to prepare your files for instantaneous downloads using cellular data. It is worthwhile to visit Google’s help page and read about how to use Google Drive properly if you want to get the most out of it.
I can upload and download files of this magnitude without any problems using my S23 Ultra. Does your phone contain a virus scanner that might prevent downloads.
