Help! Random apps, especially Google ones, keep crashing. I’ve tried disabling Chrome, uninstalling Android WebView updates, clearing cache and data, restarting my phone, and force-stopping some apps, but nothing is working. I can’t even open the Google Play Store to install updates. Android system won’t update either and I really don’t want to do a factory reset. Any advice?
Edit: My phone is Infinix Zero 5G, Model: Infinix X6815B and Android 12.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, this fixed my note 9. I was panicking thinking I’d have to wipe my phone, because more and more apps were crashing and nothing seemed to help.
I also came here for that problem. i tried some stuff myself and found that after reinstalling an app ( for my example 9gag) it would launch once before not launching again. so android system webview propably messes with the cashe somehow or something like that
Came here to post about this. Today (2021/03/22) my phone started popping up messages saying, ‘app name’ Keeps Stopping. The popup offer the options of selecting, App info, Close app, & Send feedback. None of these options seem to make a difference.
I’ve rebooted my phone multiple times. Some apps no longer open at all, some seem to work sometimes.
Apps that seem most affected so far (on my phone) are Textra (text messaging), email, File Explorer +, Digital Clock & Weather, & Google Play services.
Found an online article saying it’s worldwide (Android apps still keep crashing: How to fix Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Google app issues | Express.co.uk)
Some people find the issue is with android system webview, but on my Samsung S8 I can’t find any way of uninstalling or doing anything with that. I’ve checked in my phones setting & in the Google Play store & there is no uninstall option.
Thanks! My S9+ on Android 10 had about 8 different apps start crashing starting around 4-4:30 PM (Google app, Samsung Email, OfferUp, ESPN, etc. I dud the usual cache clear, reboots, etc. amd then came to reddit before I went too crazy!
I just uninstalled the Android Web System View in Google Play and it solved the problem.
Had this happen to me twice this morning, including for a timer app while I was timing something. Found that clearing the data for the affected apps gets them working again.
Thank you. I was tearing my hear out trying to figure out why multiple unrelated apps were all crashing on startup. No idea why this issue started out of nowhere and it seems to be pretty widespread.
