One UI 7 adds a new option for separating quick settings… what do you think?

Looks like One UI 7 is giving users the choice to separate the quick settings panel from notifications. Is this a useful change, or just more clutter?

Here’s a screenshot of the new feature: https://placehold.co/600x400.png

I’m all for giving users more options. The more flexible, the better.

Totally agree. This setup can suit different needs:

  • Together: Great for fewer gestures when you need toggles with your notifications right away.
  • Separate: Perfect for seeing more toggles at once without notifications taking up space.

One UI really shines because it gives users so much choice. Whether you want stock Samsung, dense information, or even an iOS-like experience, they’ve got you covered. It’s like the ultimate toolkit for personalization.

Is there a way to make the status bar icons look more like Pixel’s? I’ve never liked Samsung’s segmented design.

Sadly, I don’t think that’s possible. The new One UI 7 battery icon looks pretty bad too.

@Sai
That’s a bummer.

@Van
This would be amazing if memory management wasn’t so aggressive.

Thanks for sharing! Features like this really help users customize their devices to their liking.

@Rowan
This is a nice touch. Glad they’re giving us more control.

So this is basically like how iOS does it? I’ll wait to try it myself, but it feels like Samsung is copying Apple more and more. Just look at their watches and earbuds. They’re starting to feel like knockoffs.

As someone who’s stuck with Samsung for years, I’m actually thinking about switching to an iPhone Pro. Tried one in-store recently and was impressed. iOS and Android are getting closer in features, and I don’t really care much about sideloading anymore. I’ll miss Firefox with uBlock Origin, though—adblocking is a must for me.

I use AdGuard and NextDNS on my iPhone, and I never see ads anywhere (except on YouTube, which I pay for). Works perfectly.

That’s good to know. I’ve heard it’s tricky to change DNS on iOS, but I have a Pi-hole at home that should help.

@Zane
Not tricky at all. You just download a config profile from the DNS provider and install it. Super simple.

@Zane
Exactly. I tried it out the other night, and it only took about 10 minutes to set everything up.

10 minutes feels a bit long for that, don’t you think?

That was mostly tweaking NextDNS settings. The actual iOS part was just two taps.
