Why does my phone think I am in a different location

Although I am from Canada, I travel frequently for work, and this is occurring on both my tablet and phone.

I still get Canadian Netflix when I am in the US, and using a VPN does not make a difference.

I do require the VPN to be connected to a Canadian server in order to access Crave, a Canadian streaming service.

My service provider’s app tells me that I can not watch TV outside of Canada, regardless of whether my VPN is turned on.

Despite the fact that I’m in California, my VPN automatically connects to a Montreal server when I launch it and choose rapid connect.

Google Maps correctly displays my location, even after I’ve restarted both devices and turned on the location accuracy feature.

Does this occur whether using mobile data or WiFi? Do you roam around?

When traveling in the US with a Canadian SIM card, roaming does the following:
Phone → tower of US carrier → US carrier → SIM-corresponding Canadian carrier => Web page
The website has detected that the Canadian carrier is your connection source.
Alternatively, apps and websites might find you in different ways by using the location permission. However, there are intriguing other methods as well time zone, system properties. Apart from GPS, phones can use network locations with permission. Internet searches for the locations of neighboring MAC addresses are conducted using data provided by very accurate GPS-enabled devices. A Wi-Fi router or hotspot’s location is momentarily erroneous when it is relocated.

Very interesting, I appreciate your well-considered answer. Thank you. It is something I suppose I will have to put up with, but at least I will be able to comprehend all the advertisements if I return to Ontario.
